830 Publishing at Malta ESC Camp 2025
830 Music Group at Malta’s ESC Writing Camp
Setting the scene
For nine productive days (June 15–24), we joined local and international songwriters in Valletta and beyond as part of PBS’s annual Eurovision songwriting camp. This marks the third edition of the Music Exchange Camp—and showing real growth, both in scope and atmosphere.
Who was there
A mix of Maltese voices—from established names like Miriana Conte, Sarah Bonnici, Lon Kirkop, Christina Magrin, Matt “Muxu” Mercieca, Emil Calleja Bayliss, Peter Borg…and Eurovision alums from Malta’s 2019 and Junior editions.
Foreign talent included big names such as Linnea Deb (co‑writer of “Heroes”), Melanie Wehbe and more.
Industry guests: Alan Roy Scott shared four decades of songwriting wisdom, and PRS reps Dan & Kyle made an appearance.
The process
Teams had ~6 hours each to shape brand‑new song ideas—from blank page to first demo
Over two-day cycles, we joined listening parties to hear fresh demos—out of about 70 songs created this year, we heard nearly 40.
Evenings unfolded more softly—live‑music hangouts at spots like Little Bastion Restaurant in Isla gave a relaxed contrast to the busy session days.
Spot-on extras
Panel sessions covered real‑world essentials: branding, building engagement, authenticity in your message—all led by fan‑media guests including from Wiwibloggs and ESCBubble .
The overall vibe? According to @eurovision_malta: “the most vacation‑y camp ever!” .
Final take
We came away with a handful of promising demos, new friendships and connections and new perspectives on team‑building and camp logistics. Plus, witnessing the blend of Maltese roots and international talent was inspiring—and definitely rewarded our publisher instincts.
